Sleep no more tumblr9/26/2023 There is no way I’m missing a Conor Doyle cabaret, even with the wrong song. So then I ran downstairs just in time for the Boy Witch cabaret. I love this new character, and both performers who play her are fabulous, totally on par with their more experienced Punchdrunk peers. The wide shot of her in the trees, in the distance, was so beautiful I almost couldn’t tear myself away. I stayed with her - two intimate scenes and two absolutely beautiful dances that I had to myself!! - before finally (sadly) leaving her dancing alone in the bamboo forest. This was the performer I hadn’t seen in the role yet (Lee Wen Hsin / Debby), so I went with her. Except… as the witches went into the rave, the new female character went by, and she had no followers. So of course, I followed Boy Witch at the early show. This whole Shanghai show is such a treasure, to see so many Drowned Man performers together again in a Punchdrunk show.) (What I wouldn’t give to see The Drowned Man again. I think my actual favorite part of the entire trip was when Conor’s Boy Witch put on a pair of sunglasses and smirked at us like Frankie, his character from Drowned Man. His Boy Witch was the first character I ever followed in a Punchdrunk show, so it was surreal and wonderful to see him doing that role on the opposite side of the world, almost six years later! He hadn’t been on before our trip, so I was afraid I wouldn’t see him at all. I was so happy that we got to see him twice. Pretty sure it’s the only time in my life I’ll spend Christmas Eve at Sleep No More, so I went all out with gold glitter and a bright green dress.Īt the early show, Conor Doyle was Boy Witch again. Our final shows were a double on Christmas Eve. I’ll do my best to keep it vague and not spoil anything major. So sad that it’s over.Īs always, please be warned that there are spoilers in here. Final recap, and then I’ll do a wrap-up post.
